What AA and AAA mean
AA is the level most teams aim for. It asks for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 for normal text and 3 to 1 for large text. AAA is stricter, asking for 7 to 1 for normal text and 4.5 to 1 for large text. Large text means roughly 18.66px bold or 24px and above.
Contrast is one part of accessible design. Passing here does not on its own make a site compliant.
